The Last Valois
Kings of France

King Henri III

The English and Their Queen -

Queen Elizabeth Tudor of England

The 16th century was a time for ruling women - Mary and Elizabeth Tudor in England, Louise de Savoie the regent for her son King Francois II, Mary and Margaret of Austria - Governors of the Low Countries, Catherine de Medici - the French regent and a succession of ineffective/powerless archduchesses as Portuguese regents. Elizabeth would rule for almost half a century

The Earl of Leicester, one of the few high ranking nobles in England, many were killed off by King Henry VII & VIII.  He is dressed as a dandy - the red cloth in his clothes was fabulously expensive at the time.
